Abstract

This study examines Ismail Raci Faruki’s (1921–1986) theory of nature and his proposal for the Islamization of contemporary knowledge within his philosophical–tawhid system. Faruki’s thought aims to address the crises of the Islamic ummah and humanity—colonialism, intellectual stagnation, and secularism—through a monotheistic worldview. He envisions reconstructing knowledge, science, education, and social institutions on the basis of tawhid, regarded not merely as a metaphysical concept but as the unifying paradigm linking God, humanity, and nature. The Islamization of knowledge, in this sense, represents a critical and constructive synthesis between modern disciplines and Islamic heritage. The article thus explores how tawhid functions as an ontological, epistemological, and methodological foundation for the revival of the ummah and as the core principle of Faruki’s project of Islamizing of contemporary knowledge.
