The Relationship Between Arabic Language and Philosophy: On the Analysis of Linguistic Influence on Philosophical Discourse
The relationship between the Arabic language and philosophy is characterised by a rich historical tapestry that emphasises the profound influence of Arabic translations on Greek philosophical texts. These translations not only preserved ancient wisdom, but also facilitated the development of a unique philosophical terminology within the Arabic language, enabling nuanced discussions previously unavailable. In this context, the contributions of Arab philosophers have been instrumental in linking Eastern and Western philosophical thought and fostering a dialogue that has enriched both traditions. As we continue to explore the depths of philosophical discourse, it has become increasingly clear that the Arabic language is not only a medium of communication, but also a vital force shaping and influencing philosophical enquiry across cultures. This dynamic relationship reveals the interconnectedness of language and thought and enables us to recognise the importance of linguistic diversity in the advancement of philosophy as a whole. Accordingly, our study aims to identify and analyse the linguistic influence on philosophical discourse based on the relationship between Arabic language and philosophy. The study, which was completed based on the literature sources, used research, examination and analysis methods.
