Abstract

This paper examines the issue of social order and social change understood as building the capacity for establishing mechanisms for the control and rectification of the physical and psychological realms of life and their consequences for national integration and human development in a developing society as Nigeria. A basic presumption of our study was that the human sciences largely can facilitate social change by over ridding the situation of imperviousness to change- anachronism, which cannot be easily disconnected from our turbulent multi-ethnicity and the real fact that much may have been left undone in the areas of reconciliation, tolerance, compassion for promoting a rectifiable socio-culturally well-ordered society. We propose ways of ensuring the stability of social roles and functions for conformity, rectitude and justice so as to attain the common good.<
