Abstract
Kadının toplumdaki yeri problemi, cinsiyet ayrımına bağlı olarak ortaya çıkan kadınların ezilmesi ve ikincileştirilmesi sorunudur. Cinsiyet ayrımına karşı mücadele veren ve bu problemin giderilmesine yönelik düşünce üreten ideolojilerin başında “feminizm” gelir. Feminizm ile birlikte kadınların toplumdaki durumlarının iyileştirmesine yönelik liberal ve sosyalist düşünürler de çaba göstermişlerdir. John Stuart Mill, yaşadığı dönemde kadın ve erkek arasındaki ilişkileri düzenleyen ve yasal olarak kadını erkeğe bağımlı hale getiren ilkenin yanlış bir ilke olduğunu düşünür. Bu ilke, aynı zamanda insanlığın gelişiminin önündeki en büyük engellerden biridir. Dolayısıyla bu ilkenin yerine, kadın ya da erkeğin, hiçbirinin diğeri üzerinde bir ayrıcalık ya da güç kullanma hakkına sahip olamayacağı, diğerinin de hiçbir yoksunluk hissetmeyeceği, bir mükemmel eşitlik ilkesinin benimsenmesi gerekir. <

Abstract
The problem of women’s role in society is their oppression and coming second in society, which occurs according to the sex discrimination. “Feminism” comes the first among the ideologies fighting against sex discrimination and producing ideas to remove the problem. Liberalist and socialist philosophers have also paid effort to make the status of women better in society together with feminism. John Stuart Mill thinks that the principal organizing the relationships between the men and women and legally making the women dependent on men is a wrong one. This principle is also one of the biggest obstacles in front of developing humanity. So, instead of this principle, a perfect principle that makes the men and women equal, neither giving men nor women the right to discriminate or use power upon the other and making neither of them feel deprived should be adopted. <
