Abstract
Bu çalışmada Sofist Lykophron’un, Aristoteles’in Politika (III, 1280b) adlı eserinde ona atfettiği sözleşme fikri ele alınacaktır. Lykophron’a dair sınırlı bilgimizin önemli bir kısmı Aristoteles’in aktarımlarına dayanmaktadır. Dolayısıyla bu çalışma, Lykophron hakkında doğrudan bir Aristoteles okuması ya da Lykophron ile Aristoteles arasında karşılaştırmalı ve ayrıntılı bir inceleme sunmaktan ziyade sofist düşünce içinde Lykophron’un ilk sözleşmecilerden biri olarak kabul edilip edilemeyeceği tartışmasına odaklanacaktır. Bu tartışmanın temel amacı ise XVII. yüzyılda toplum sözleşmecileri başlığı altında kümelenen düşüncenin ilk nüvelerinin politikanın krize girdiği bir dönemde ortaya çıkan sofist düşüncede bulunup bulunamayacağı sorusuna cevap aramaktır.

Abstract
This study examines the idea of contract attributed to the Sophist Lycophron in Aristotle’s Politics (III, 1280b). Much of the limited information we possess about Lycophron relies on Aristotle’s testimony. Accordingly, rather than providing a direct Aristotelian reading of Lycophron or a detailed comparative analysis between Lycophron and Aristotle, this paper focuses on the question of whether Lycophron can be regarded as one of the earliest proponents of social contract theory within sophistic thought. The main objective of this inquiry is to explore whether the first seeds of the contractarian tradition, later systematized in the seventeenth century under the heading of social contract theorists, can be traced back to sophistic thought, which itself emerged in a period of political crisis.
