Abstract
Some Considerations on the Understanding of the Language Used in Religious Texts
The debate on the origins of the language has seriously preoccupied both Muslim scholars and other scholars throughout history. The discussions in question have never only been a mere intellectual debate and analysis about language but have taken place within a framework that concerns the structure/nature and consequently understanding of religious texts. On the other hand, both past and present studies on the language itself contain serious philosophical implications and it is seen that they contain valuable information for understanding some uses, expressions and types of speeches in religious texts. As a matter of fact, it is seen that the language debates handled by Muslim philosophers in the past were also within this framework. In this respect, we believe that the efforts towards language and its development are important in terms of understanding some of the patterns and expressions in this religious language and considering that patterns and expressions from a wider perspective because the religious texts are expressed in this language.
